At Catacanarias Sailing, there are never two groups on the same boat on the same day. Each departure from Playa San Juan is for a single group of up to 11 people, with the entire catamaran at their disposal for 3, 4 or 5 hours. There is no fixed itinerary to follow: the people on board decide where to go.
What changes when the boat is exclusively yours
On a shared excursion, the itinerary is set in advance and the pace is determined by the slowest or largest group. Not here. If the group wants to stay anchored for another half an hour in front of the Los Gigantes Cliffs because someone has jumped into the water and does not want to get out, they can. If they would rather sail straight towards the Muralla del Infierno without stopping, they can do that too. The route adapts to the plan you have booked, not the other way around.
The food is more than just a snack
Depending on the plan, food on board ranges from savoury snacks and drinks (3-hour plan) to a selection of tapas (4 hours) or paella with wine (5 hours). It is not just a token appetiser to justify the price: with the longer plan, eating on board while the catamaran sails along the coast is a central part of the experience, not an optional extra.
What kind of day is this ideal for?
A private catamaran makes sense when what you are looking for is not simply to “see things”, but to have your own space at sea: a stag party without having to share the boat with strangers, a birthday where nobody has to watch the clock, a company afternoon that feels nothing like a meeting room, or simply a family that wants to swim and eat without having to depend on anyone else’s schedule.
Where does it depart from and what can you see?
The departure point is Playa San Juan, in the south of Tenerife (Av. Juan Carlos I, 38687). From there, the route follows the south-western coast of the island towards the Los Gigantes Cliffs — volcanic walls rising up to 600 metres that are best appreciated from the water — and, depending on the plan and sea conditions, the Muralla del Infierno.
